j0295659.wmfExpectations – CTS Wildlife

Activities:

Attendance is required unless conflicting with diploma courses

Attendance for Calgary field trip is dependent on assignment completion

Survival Camp - June 3 to 7 – is mandatory for credits

There is more to this class than camping, shooting, fishing, cooking, and bonding with nature. This means

you will have to do bookwork and posters and various assignments.

Assignments:

“Cut and Paste” is not acceptable. Plagiarism will result in a 48 hour do over. Any internet

sources must be referenced in the bibliography and a minimum of two sources must be used.

Gather your information and put it in your own words. It isn’t rocket science. Point form is good for most

           assignments, unless otherwise stated.

Expectations:

Safety first. Eyes and ears. Always. No jacking around – in the classroom, in the lab, on the

           range – anywhere and everywhere.

No disrespecting each other, or their opinions.

Genuine respect for wildlife and the outdoors is a must.

Computer lab time is given, but can be taken away if abused.

Homework is a product of not working in class.

Permission slips must be completed and handed in before participating in any activity. And being 18

doesn’t mean you can sign it, either.

The goal is to do all the bookwork and writing before the weather gets nice. When the weather is nice, we

           want to be outside.

Sometimes we will get wet and cold. We need to pull up our big kid pants and deal with it. If it was easy,

           they would call it rodeo.

There is no place to plug in your Winnie the Pooh nightlight on our camping trips,

so get ready for the dark and all the strange noises that come with it. And no, sleeping on the ground

isn’t a violation of your rights.

You are going to have to cook in this class and eat what you cook. You will also have to pay

for the food you cook, so take it easy on the lobster and filet.

We have to get along. Your life and your classmates lives depend on you - and them - not being jerks and

           taking risks.

This is not camping class. There is biology, geography, first aid, cooking, ichthyology, sociology, botany,

ornithology, recreational technology, mammalogy, anthropology, ecology, law and life class. If you aren’t

prepared to do it all, you need to be somewhere else.
